Updating a blog on the iseries
Once the replication software was tested we imitated a disaster, making sure the system failed over properly.
From this point on, the primary location could be shut down at any given time and automatically transition to the DR box with little to no downtime.
Step 2: Click OK, and a Welcome screen is shown (this document does not include an image of the Welcome screen). Select the option Create new file and member based on spreadsheet from the Storing Data on the i Series screen. If this is the first time the transfer request is run, a FDF file does not exist.
Therefore, type the name of the FDF file to be created. Step 5: Click Next when the Scan completed successfully message is displayed. This screen shows a list of fields that the scan identified in the spreadsheet.
After the testing was complete the application was reverted back to the customer’s i Series.
Then, select the Data Transfer to i Series icon from the toolbar as shown below. If using Excel 2007/2010 the icon should be on the Add-ins tab.
This opens a new Transfer to i Series Request window.
The key challenge was how could they keep the business up-and-running while moving the i Series box over 500 miles away?
The i Series had to be shut down, loaded on a truck and moved to the new data center, all while keeping things “business-as-usual”.
